===== Celebrated Vedic Mantra From Taittiriya Aranyak =====
Mantra Pushpam is a famous mantra that is chanted after almost all ceremonies and yajnas. It is from 22nd Anuvaka of Taittiriya Aranyak.
The eighth Anuvaka starts off by stating that all of the units of “Time” enter into “Water” which in turn enters into “Agni”, which ultimately merges with the energy of “Surya”. Eight forms of Agni are then described.
In the 22nd anuvaka dealing with mantra pushpam, “water” is recognized as the basis of the universe and most fundamental of “elements”. The relationship between “water” and moon, agni, surya, vayu and stars is described. The mantras of the first section instruct us that Water is the Aadhaaram (base or supporting principle) and Aadheyam (containing principle) for all units of time and created beings as well as vital breaths, edible crops, truth and Vedic meters as indicated by the twenty ninth anuvaakam of Maha Narayanopanishad. These verses declare that the person who meditates on Jalam or Aapah as Sarva Devathaa Svarupam is bound to gain all auspicious fruits. Such a declaration finds its echo in the Sandhya Mantra :
“Aapohishtaa mayoh bhuvasthaa na urjeh dhadhatana --- aapoh janayathaa cha na:”
“ O waters, verily You are bliss-conferring. being such, grant us food, and great and beautiful insight (of the Supreme Truth). Further make us in this very life participants of that joy of Yours, which is most auspicious, just like fond mothers (who nurse their darlings with nourishment). May we attain to that satisfactory abode of Yours, which You are pleased to grant us. Generate for us also the waters of life and pleasures on earth (during our sojourn here).”

यो॑உपां पुष्पं॒ वेद॑ पुष्प॑वान् प्र॒जावा॓न् पशु॒मान् भ॑वति । च॒न्द्रमा॒ वा अ॒पां पुष्पम्॓ । पुष्प॑वान् प्र॒जावा॓न् पशु॒मान् भ॑वति । य ए॒वं वेद॑ । योஉपामा॒यत॑नं॒ वेद॑ । आ॒यतन॑वान् भवति ।
That one who knows the flowers of Water, he becomes the possessor of flowers, cattle and progeny. Moon is the flower of the Water. He who knows it to be so, he becomes the possessor of cattle and progeny. That one who knows the source of the Water, he becomes established in his Self.
[The term "water" refers to the causal state where from all things manifest.The terms stars, Moon, flowers, rainy season, etc. refer to the fruits of mantra jap or the yagna and symbolize various things. All these fruits (effects) spring from water (the cause). It is usually chanted at the end of puja or yagna to remind us that all things come from water (causal state) and to invoke the fruits of the said puja or yagna. "He who knows the source of water, becomes established in himself..." means that he who knows the Source of the waters, or causal plain (beyond the state of unconsciousness), becomes established in his Self or Atman. He is then Turiya, witnessing the three other states of Existence.]

[Gita 15.12-13: The light of the sun that illumines the whole world, the light from the moon, and the light in fire--know this radiance to be Mine. Permeating earth with My effulgence, I support all beings, having become the watery moon.
In the microcosm of man, God's cosmic consciousness vibrates through the individualized soul, as the astral light in the thousand petaled lotus ("the sun") that illumines with life the entire body ("the world") through its reflection ("the moon") in the subsidiary spinal chakras and their radiating energies (fire).
From a deeper metaphysical perspective, the Word, AUM, or Creative Vibration manifesting as light and life force is the sustaining and enlivening energy in all beings--even so-called inanimate forms with unmanifested consciousness. Manifesting through the elemental principles of Nature or Prakriti ("the watery moon"), all forms ("plants"--offshoots) come into being as differentiated rays of the one creative light of God.
Soma Rasatmaka, "watery moon," derives from the usually adopted literal translation: "the moon (soma), the essence or character of which is fluid or sap (rasatmaka)." supporting the valid observation of the moon's effect on the earth's watery substances and plant growth. Interpreted in the light of Yoga, however, a different analysis becomes obvious. Soma, the moon, is Nature, the light (or elixir, soma) of which is the reflection of Spirit. Within this light are all the elemental principles of creation born of the Bliss (ananda, soma) of Spirit.]

He who knows the raft that is established in the Water, he becomes established in that itself.
[This paragraph has got a hidden meaning – this is to say that there is a raft available to cross over all the forces of Nature and to see the God beyond all of them – God himself is the raft – we have to seek His help to see Him. We need to understand that He,indeed is the raft.]
